Dageraad Brewing grew from a love of Belgium, and a desire to make an authentic Belgian-style beer that comes from the other side of the city, instead of the other side of the world. Hidden in an industrial park in Burnaby British Columbia, the 4,000 square-foot brewery and tasting room is a mix of rough and refined. Existing concrete and steel are overlaid with dark wood, white tile, and brass — material references to the historic cafes that line the streets of Antwerp — while new skylights wash the bar with sunlight. During the summer a large overhead door opens the main floor onto the parking lot, while in rainier months patrons can find a seat in the more intimate mezzanine space above.
